Understanding Age Spots:
Age spots, liver spots or solar lentigenes are flat oval grey, brown or black spots usually appear on the back of the hands, tops of the feet, face, shoulders, upper back or arms.They vary in size from freckle size to more than half an inch across and can appear as a single spot or in a cluster grouped together.Although they usually appear over the age of 40, they can appear when younger.
Its Causes are:
- Old age alone will often cause extra melanin to be produced.
- It can be attributed to genes and genetic make-up as to whether you are more likely to develop age spots.
- Hormonal changes such as pregnancy or menopause.
- Birth control pills.
- Not enough Vitamin A, D or E in your diet.
- Antibiotics and medication.
- Liver and Edison’s disease.
- Too much iron in the diet.
Home Remedies:
Onion:- Rub an onion or onion juice directly onto the spot twice a day.
- The vitamin C works as a skin lightener and fades age spots.
Aloevera:
- Apply fresh aloe vera gel to your age spots once or twice a day.
- Aloe gel contains chemicals believed to remove dead skin cells and promote the growth of new healthy cells. With regular use, aloe gel will lighten and possible remove age spots.
Buttermilk:
- Dab it onto your skin and let it dry for about 30 minutes.
- Then all you have to do is to rinse it off with warm water.
- Do this every day for a couple of months and your brown spots are likely to light
Facemask:
- Combine a teaspoon of honey with a teaspoon of plain yogurt.
- Apply this mixture to your face and leave it on for about 30 minutes and then rinse it off with warm water.
- If you do this daily for about a month you should see your brown spots slowly fade away.
Lemon Juice:
- Dab fresh lemon juice directly onto your age spots twice a day until you achieve the desired results.
- Leave the juice on the skin for at least 30 minutes, or as long as you are comfortable with it.
- You can also leave the juice on the skin overnight.
Apple Cider Vinegar:
- Apply a little apple cider vinegar directly onto the age spots and leave for 30 minutes before rinsing off.
- Simple rub the oil directly onto the affected skin areas once in the morning and once in the evening.
- This helps fade the spots within a month.
Olive Oil:
- Dab some directly on the age spots and allow absorb into the skin. Do this twice a day.
- Apply the juice or mash up some cucumber into a pulp and apply to the dark spots.
- Allow it to dry in and then rinse off.
- For the pulp apply and leave for 20 minutes before rinsing off.
- Apply either of these twice a day.
Saffron:
- Mix some Saffron with either sandalwood or rosewater and apply twice a day.
- Leave for 20 minutes and rinse off.
