Causes Of Dark Lips
- Limit your intake of tea and coffee. Caffeine can make your lips darker depending on the amount consumed.
- Choose your lipstick carefully. Avoid the ones which are loaded with chemicals. Go for lip products which have natural plant based ingredients.
- Smoking can have adverse effect on the color of your lips and may cause irreversible darkening.
Natural Remedies
Using Sugar and Lemon:
- Take some coarsely powdered sugar, add lemon juice and scrub your lips daily with this mixture.
- Alternately you can use a baby tooth brush to scrub your lips gently. This will remove the dead cells.
- Apply freshly squeezed lemon juice to your lips and massage them gently.
- Follow this ritual every night before bed.
Using Coconut Oil:
- Apply pure coconut oil mixed with a few drops of lemon juice on your lips daily.
- Massage gently, keep for some minutes and wash off.
- Apply honey on your lips and leave it on overnight, everyday.
- Continue this practice for a couple of weeks and you will notice a change in your lip colour.
Using Apple Cider Vinegar:
- Apple cider vinegar and lemon juice are highly effective in lightening the color of your lips, so use them regularly.
- Fuller's earth is an excellent natural whitener not only for the facial skin but also your lips.
- Add some honey in fuller's earth powder and make a paste.
- Apply this paste as a lip pack at least 2 times a week.
Using Strawberries:
- Take 5-6 strawberries and crush them. Add 2 tsp of baking soda to this crushed strawberries pulp and mix well. Apply this on your lips at night and leave overnight. Repeat daily.
- With the help of cotton ball, apply strawberry juice on your dark lips. Leave for 5-10 minutes before washing off
Using Veg Juice:
- Mix coconut water, lemon juice and cucumber juice.
- Massage your lips with this mixture. Keep for a few minutes and wash off.
- Before going to bed apply a mixture of almond paste mixed with milk cream on your lips to hydrate and nourish them.
- Since both almonds and milk have lightening and bleaching properties, they will definitely lighten your lips if used regularly.
- Take some fresh beetroot juice and apply on your dark lips before going to bed every night. Wash it off next morning.
- Take 1 tbsp each of beet juice and carrot juice. Mix them and apply on your lips. Leave for about 10-15 minutes and then wash off with water.
- Mix beet juice with pineapple juice and some coconut oil. Rub your lips with this mixture. The bromelain present in pineapple will take off dead skin when you rub your lips with this mixture on it. Coconut oil will keep your lips hydrated.
- Take three spoons of sugar and mix it with two spoons of butter to make a thick paste.
- Use this mixture on your lips to exfoliate them.
- The added butter moisturises your lip.
Using GramFlour:
- A pack of gram flour, lemon juice and yogurt is not only excellent for your facial skin but your lips as well.
- Use it as a lip pack to remove lip darkness.
For Better Results::
- Avoid smoking, high intake of tea and coffee. They can damage your beauty and lips in the long run.
- Increase your intake of fresh fruits and vegetables which will provide you with sufficient antioxidants and keep your lips pink and glowing at the same time.
- Increase your water intake. Low water content in body can make your lips dry and cracked thereby making them look darker.
- If you are suffering from dry lips, keep a lip balm handy.
- The habit of licking the lips can also make them darker overtime so avoid doing that.
